Sarah Palin and the New Face of Feminism

Gov. Sarah Palin, 2008 Republican Vice Presidential Nominee

Gov. Sarah Palin, 2008 Republican Vice Presidential Nominee

Governor Sarah Palin, the 2008 republican Vice Presidential nominee proves that women do not need radical leftwing beliefs and the politics of victimization to be “empowered.”

One of the great things about the Republican Party is that it does not require an army of populist organizations, representing specific ethnic, religious or gender interests with specialized and divisive definitions to advance social justice.  It’s a party dedicated to the American Republic and it can advance civil rights and gender equality without becoming beholden to a multitude of disparate reactionary movements.

One of the reasons the democrats hate Palin so much is because she proves this point.  It reinforces the historical precedent that it was the republicans who ended slavery and the republicans who ended segregation.  Now the republicans might actually be the party who puts the first woman into the highest office of authority!  Can’t the democrats have anything?!  What does that say about the necessity and “empowering” natures of all those radical beliefs and values?

When democrats make stupid, sexist accusations suggesting that Palin was just picked at the last minute as someone who could pick up Hillary supporters, I think it not only displays their ignorance of the significance of Palin as a governor. But it really displays the democrat’s egotism.  For some reason they want to think that THEY were the only one’s who are chomping at the bit to get a woman (or other minority) in office.

You see, Democrats think that conservative and republican woman are ignorant and uneducated.  They think you are all just eager to be subservient concubines for your husband.  They think you have no minds of your own and that you are happy with the patriarchy as it has been.  They just can’t imagine that you are actually strong, intelligent and independent women who just happen to have a different set of values and opinions, ethically, spiritually, philosophically and POLITICALLY.

The left, because of their self-absorption and limited insight can’t understand that republicans and conservatives weren’t any more willing than the democrats to just throw any random female at the office because the time is right for a Woman leader.  Republicans wanted the right kind of woman, a strong, intelligent and capable woman, one who could go to Washington and shake up the bureaucrats.

Of course Hillary has to be recognized for her successes.  She helped prove that the time is right for female leadership with her 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling.  But I think she and her party proved that Hillary is not the one that the American people or her own Democratic Party wants to shatter that ceiling.  That certainly helped lay the ground work, if not pave the way for Palin, but that’s not a rational reason to criticize the nomination.  But Democrats would rather see no progress at all if they can’t be the ones to make it happen.

If Palin becomes VP and then possibly President, the liberals will have one less thing to be angry about and it would remove the politics of victimization from female empowerment.  Since the left wing thrives on the politics of victimization, they lose this battle and the movement.

  1. Sarah Palin pales in comparison to Joe Biden in experience and education. She pales in comparison to Barack Obama in National experience and education. The very fact that Palin has to be sequestered from the press for an indefinite amount of time demonstrates that she is NOT READY ON DAY ONE. There is no way that she can learn and understand international politics. She only knows small population Alaska… a state with limited diversity. And she and McCain are owned by the oil industry. No, Sarah Palin wears her Alaska hat first, then her Party hat and her American hat only comes on when the press arrives.

Most Republican women that I have met are frightened women and are very angry. Look at Sarah Palin… she is know to be hostile to the people that work for her. A “feminist” would shudder at the name of “barracuda”.

  2. Missed part of my sentence…
There is no way that Sarah Palin can learn and understand international politics in 135 days. Look at Bush. He’s been at it for 8 years and he still doesn’t understand it.

  3. Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Barrack Obama. Joe Biden is Obama’s Dick Cheney—they had to get somebody on the ticket with an ounce of experience. Palin has run the largest state in the union. Obama hasn’t run anything. Palin visited the troops in the Middle East long before Obama even considered the idea.

The fact that Palin is not beholden to the press for her popularity is a plus. The fact that Palin won’t be pushed around by a clearly hostile media is an asset to her character. The fact that democrats are whining because they can’t intimidate Palin to play their game is amusing.

Alaska is more than a “small population.” It’s the largest state in the Union with a huge economic infrastructure, a National Guard (Military) and a hot issue in the news with ANWR. It’s not some insignificant little burg. She also took on the oil companies in her state and won. She’s not so one dimensional that she can’t wear more than one hat—like a real American. Alaska is the United States and Republicans are Americans.

I have to thank you for the typical left wing mischaracterization of republican women. It helps support the point I made in the article; lefties are such egotists that they think they are the only intelligent and rational people in the world. And Sarah Palin has been known to be hostile toward corrupt officials, cops who use tasers on their own 9 year old sons and people who make death threats against her family.

Barracuda is an insignificant point of debate, but I understand the Obamanites are feeling desperate. I’ve known feminists who took pride in more controversial names. I imagine a strong woman who spends a lot of time fishing just might like being called a barracuda, especially having grown up in the era that song was popular.

Your arguments against Palin are about as silly as Barack Hussein Obama’s “credentials” and “qualifications” for presidency. But please keep trying. The desperation of the Obama wing just helps prove more and more how weak that ticket is.
